I watched this movie a week ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. I think Mickey Rourke deserved the best actor oscar, it’s one of the most amazing performances I’ve ever seen, bar none.

I would say that most of the movies the Academy picks are forgettable. I thought The Wrestler, Gran Torino, and The Dark Knight were easily three of the best movies that came out last year. Honestly, how many best-picture winners do people still watch? I think the Academy is full of self-important snobs who pick movies based on ideas, messages, etc., not on how powerful the movie actually is. I really don’t know why millions care what this small group of egotistical people think is good.

Not all Oscar winning movies are unforgetable it is the ones the judges didn’t pick but the fans really saw as the real winner that is more remembered for decades…

Yes, it was but I thought that Rourke should have won. I mean Sean Penn was good, but Rourke just blew my breathe away.

He was trying to correct injuries he sustained while professionally boxing after his career collapsed. He broke his nose twice and shattered his cheekbone. FFS, I think he’s still a damn good looking bloke with all that in mind.

Rourke was pretty damned incredible. So was Penn. It was a great contest.

Maloperveso who cares about his face. Are you ***? what it matters is his acting. This was a good movie, very moving and well acted. Mickey was robbed of the Oscar for Best Actor. He was not running for best face.

Yeah, he looks like a monster. He should sue his plastic surgeon and try and get his money back. Was he trying to look younger or prettyer?

What the hell happened to his face? He looks like a lion or something, definitely not pretty anyomore. Fucking plastic surgery, people should just be happy looking the way they do.

He had some botched plastic surgery, so doesn’t look so pretty anymore, lol. I can hardly wait for the Joaquin Pheonix comeback - I don’t mean acting, but just coming back to earth !!

What in Gods name did MIckey Rourke do to his face? And why does NOBODY comment on it? If he were a woman, thats ALL they’d be commenting on! Look at him now, and when he did Pope of Grenesh villiage? What the FLUCK did he do to himself??

Oscar director’s should’ve cued Bang your head (metal health), then mickey rourke got up on stage and gave sean penn a f*ckin ram jam!!!

They didn’t bother with Springsteen because it would’ve been no contest.

Rourke broke hearts with this role. He was mesmerizing. I swear you’d have to be a heartless soul if you weren’t moved by this film.

Putting Rourke’s name in the nominated list was just a ploy because they can always say Penn was good too. They couldn’t put Springstein’s song because it would have been obvious if he lost. It was really a shut out for the Wrestler. They can kiss my they know what.
